The Gupta family: A story woven with love and laughter

Some families have a way of making you feel like you have stepped into a warm embrace the moment you meet them. The Gupta family is exactly that—a beautifully woven tapestry of love, laughter, and shared traditions, bound together by an unshakable bond (and a few fiercely competitive card games). Add to that Mummy’s legendary Malai Kofta, Papa’s calm wisdom, and the occasional joke about the family’s short-lived business venture that “chalne se pehle hi band ho gayi thi”—and you have a family story that’s as rich as it is endearing.

When Kathakaar set out to document their journey, we knew we weren’t just photographing moments; we were preserving a legacy. From Mummy and Papa, whose partnership has flourished since 1982, to the next generation of dreamers, adventurers, and mischief-makers, every interaction was filled with warmth, nostalgia, and a deep sense of togetherness.

Mummy, with her formidable card and culinary skills, keeps the family tradition alive—whether through Bridge championships or the delicious Atte Ka Halwa that no one can resist. Papa, a master of balance, starts his mornings with yoga, spiritual readings, and a disciplined plant-based diet, embodying a quiet wisdom that anchors the family. Their journey—punctuated by laughter, life lessons, and the occasional Bridge tournament—has set the foundation for a family that thrives on love, resilience, and a great sense of humor.

Vivek and Nishtha, the ever-supportive siblings, reminisced about childhood memories spanning multiple cities and moves while marveling at the next generation—Inaya, Reyansh, Om, and Aadya—each with their own vibrant personalities, from origami and coding to cricket and composing imaginary worlds.

Photographing this incredible family was nothing short of a joyride—spontaneous laughter, heartwarming reflections, and just the right dose of delightful mischief. At Kathakaar, we believe that every family has a story worth telling, and the Guptas have ensured theirs will live on—not just as memories, but as a treasured heirloom for generations to come.

Because in the end, life’s greatest gift isn’t just the moments we live—it’s the love, laughter, and legacy we pass down. And the Guptas? They have mastered that art beautifully.
